Defeated
people
For us,
those who lived in the Soviet Union, the life began ten years ago. I say
this, not because that, what people felt until the fall of the Empire
was less significant or interesting, but because only now we are really
leaving our failed past. In a way, the post-soviet people use also this
time in the measure they recapitulate the slavery of other time. In
fact, they will not succeed anymore to be anything else than slaves, but
slaves who are aware of their slavery.
As a rule, the discussions
about the society, school, art, begin with the cliché ”once with the
fall of the iron curtain …” At a certain moment, one has even the
impression, that all these fields have radically changed after the fall
of communism. It is hard to say so. What is sure is that the people got
the tendency to speak always about the change, although they do not
anything to accomplish it.
In the list of fields liable to the
reform, more exactly to the “perestroika ”, a special place has been
taken by the religion. First of all, they began to speak about religion
in the most different places and occasions. The religion has been
obliged to submit to the new conditions. Every inconvenient, for example
the fasts or the length of the orthodox services, can be very easily
attributed to the communist mentality, how absurd this could not seem.
Generally, God is forced to renounce to the single way of revealing
Himself to the men, the Gospel, and recognise the Buddhism, Shamanism,
or the religion of ancient Egyptians as a perfect revelation and
sufficient for the salvation.
Although today it is almost a
difficulty to find an absolute atheist, because everyone believes if not
in God, than at least in some other supernatural forces, the thinking of
these men is totally atheistic. When someone modifies with serenity the
principles that the God Himself, brought to the men, then by this he
neglects the existence of God. God cannot be a Homeric creation, that
is, a simple projection of some human aspirations. The blind poet,
considered to be also “the great religious reformer of Greece ” (Kostas
Papaioannou), at least had the honesty to create a multitude of deities,
for all kind of tastes, while the people of today try to attribute
multiple and antithetic features to one God. Such a God, within Whom
there are at the same time contradictory principles, would be liable, by
all means, to the destruction and annihilation. The absurdity of this
situation is remarked by few.
In the last century, in one of the
America’s states, the population obtained trough law that the number ?
be equal to 4 and not to 3,14. They decided it is easier to do the
mathematical operation with a round number. I think that to change the
principles of salvation is as absurd as this, because, although
apparently the salvation becomes easier, in reality it fails.
What we
gained, the former soviet people, in comparison with the rest of
humankind is the experience of a terrible and deep delusion. We know how
painful it is to find out that what you believed in, was a lie. Who
knows, maybe after this life there is really something for which it is
worth to fight? I would be sorry that the people, who once lost, comfort
themselves with their state of losers, loosing also the only fight which
is worth to be won.
